“A community-run, in-person event”
- by Ben Kerry
Last month, Microsoft announced the big date for its Xbox Games Showcase this summer – with the livestream going ahead on Sunday, June 8th. However, this time around, Team Green is opting for an all-digital event with no in-person gathering – something that members of the Xbox community are now rectifying.
Posted out to the Xbox subreddit this past weekend, a bunch of community members have announced an unofficial FanFest event. This will be a fan gathering in Los Angeles, where Xbox followers will get together to watch the 2025 summer showcase together – complete with free food & drinks, merchandise, giveaways and more.
The final venue for this fan event is now locked in, but it hasn’t been shared publicly yet. In terms of attending the event if you’re in the area, you’ll have to fill out this form and hope to be selected – the organisers are using a raffle system that randomly selects the final attendees. The winners will be announced on May 16th, and then informed of the specific location in “Downtown Los Angeles”.
To be honest, this sounds really cool – and we hope that the organisers manage to pull the event off without a hitch. Although we’re much too far away to get to this (and we’ll be busy working away at PX HQ to bring you all the news), it’s always cool to see fan events like this – especially ones that bring some excitement around following Xbox. We wish all of those attending this the best of times!
Is this something you’d like to attend? Talk to us about this unofficial FanFest down below.
