AN autopsy on the body of Iyana Castanada has ruled out foul play with the cause of death listed as natural causes, namely heart disease.

The woman’s husband, Marlon Seenath, told the Express on Saturday that it was the fourth time he was visiting the mortuary to have his wife’s autopsy conducted. He, along with other families, stood for hours outside the Scarborough Mortuary waiting until the autopsies were conducted, until the rain eventually poured.

Police officers had responded to a report at Top Hill, Mason Hall, on April 11 where they met and interviewed the woman’s 36-year-old male friend who stated that around 11.30 p.m. that day, Castanada, 41, complained of belly pains after consuming a cup of moringa tea. Castanada was originally from Bolai Trace, Chase Village, Trinidad.

More than a month after her death, the autopsy was conducted at the Scarborough Mortuary on Saturday morning by pathologist Dr Parthasarathi Pramanik.
