The Windsor Spitfires’ overage forward scored three goals and finished with four points in a 7-4 road loss to the Kitchener Rangers on Friday.

The Rangers snapped a 3-3 tie midway through the third period with two goals in a span of 45 seconds to take a two-goal lead and Windsor could never get even again.

Captain Liam Greentre had a goal and three points and Ilya Protas chipped in with three assists for the Spitfires.

Adrian Misaljevic and Luca Romano had a pair of goals for the Rangers, who were outshot 43-34. Jack Pridham, Andrew Vermeulen and Matthew Hlacar added single goals.

Express drop Lightning

Guard Latin Davis had 34 points to lead the Windsor Express to a 111-105 win over the London Lightning on Friday in Basketball Super League play at the WFCU Centre.

With the win, the Express (15-7) moved to within a game of first-place Sudbury (17-7) and a half game back of second-place Kitchener-Waterloo (16-7).

Vincent Boumann finished with 27 points, Cameron Gaines added 14 points and Zavier Turner picked up 13 points against the Lightning (11-7). Jaire Gayer scored 10 points in his debut with the Express after being acquired from the Pontiac Pharaohs for Jeremy Harris and future considerations.

Flyers best Canucks

The Leamington Flyers kicked off the playoffs with a 4-1 win over the Niagara Falls Canucks on Friday.

Brody Cook scored midway through the first period to snap a 1-1 tie and put the Flyers ahead for good.

Cade Bell, Brayden Degelas and Colton Smith also scored single goals for the Flyers, who hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven West Conference quarter-final series in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

73’s edge Blades

Patrick McManus scored with just under six minutes left in regulation to lift the Essex 73’s to a 4-3 win over the Blenheim Blades on Friday.

With it, the top-seeded 73’s hold a 1-0 lead over the sixth-seeded Blades in the best-of-seven Bills Stobbs Division semifinal series in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Luke Sherk, Tyler Fleming and Cael McCabe had staked the 73’s to a 3-0 lead before the Blades, who were outshot 56-27, rallied to tie the game in the third period.

Canadiens beat Admirals

Captain Marco Sladoje scored three goals as the Lakeshore Canadiens beat the Amherstburg Admirals 6-1 at home on Friday.

With it, the second-seeded Canadiens took a 1-0 lead over the fifth-seeded Admirals in the best-of-seven Bills Stobbs Division semifinal series in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Nicolas Rosati had two goals and four points for the Canadiens with Eric Bison scoring the other goal and finishing with three points. Rory Sandison replied for the Admirals.
