“Built for shared play”
One of the things you might be wondering about Gears of War: Reloaded is how co-op will work, especially now that the game has been confirmed for PS5, and the answer is – it sounds like it’s going to be very seamless!
Xbox says that Gears of War: Reloaded has been “built for shared play”, which means it supports two-player co-op both locally and online (in the campaign), and eight-player Versus Multiplayer. The online portion works across all platforms, and people on PC and PS5 don’t even need to sign into a Microsoft Account if they don’t want to.
“The Campaign supports two-player co-op, and Versus Multiplayer allows up to 8 players. With cross-play across all platforms, you and your friends can squad up no matter where you play — no Microsoft account required.”
However, a Microsoft Account is still advised if you’re playing on something other than an Xbox console, as this will allow you to utilise cross-progression and send invites to friends on other platforms for an easy way to squad up.
The multiplayer suite will be fully complete when Gears of War: Reloaded launches this August, featuring all maps and modes from the original version – including DLC. In fact, all post-launch DLC across the entire game is included!
