A fatal road accident in Ilaro, the administrative center of Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, has claimed the lives of four people.
The incident occurred on Monday at the Oke Iganmu area of the town.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident involved a yellow commercial tricycle with registration number DED 425 WB and an unidentified vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, believed to be at fault, fled the scene immediately after the crash.
FRSC Public Education Officer for the Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident in a statement. She attributed the cause of the crash to excessive speeding and dangerous driving. All four occupants of the tricycle — two men and two women — died on the spot.
Their bodies have been deposited at the State Hospital morgue in Ilaro as authorities continue investigations. The FRSC has urged drivers to adhere strictly to road safety regulations and avoid reckless driving to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
